On gender inclusion, we have adopted a Gender Diversity Policy that refers to the ASC’s Transgender & Gender-Diverse Inclusion Guidelines for HighP Sport [see the article on our website here]. These ASC guidelines only apply to high-performance sport and cannot feasibly be applied in community sport.
In the absence of a National Policy for community football, Football NSW will continue to align with Football Australia’s adoption of the Australian Human Rights Commission’s ‘Guidelines for the inclusion of transgender and gender diverse people in sport’.
Under these AHRC guidelines, community (grassroots) players are permitted to participate in football based on the gender with which they identify.
